Project 1 Reflection

Reflection Essay

This paper was harder than I thought it was going to be. At first, it seemed relatively simple but soon after starting, I realized it was not. I began the project intending to talk about my involvement in my high school Beta Club. However, I went to the conference and was told that I followed the wrong prompt. I followed the prompt that was on the syllabus instead of the one on the website. This lead to many problems with my paper. I also wrote too scholarly when I should have been writing like it was a personal narrative. After my disheartening conference, I decided I needed to change my topic completely. I felt as though I was not passionate enough about my topic as I should be and that I needed to write about something that would better work with the “personal narrative” style. After changing my topic, I felt a lot better about my paper. The words came easier than they had the first time and I knew that I was following the right prompt, and following it well. Overall, I ended up being very proud of my final paper.
