If I had to define what I think plagiarism is to me personally, I would describe it as using someone else’s work or ideas as your own, without giving them appropriate credit. I believe that understanding what plagiarism is exactly is very important. On one hand, it is important to understand what plagiarism is because the consequences can be very severe. In high school and below, it matters because you can get a bad grade or even a zero, but when you get to college it becomes incredibly more serious. In fact, plagiarism in college can result in failure of a course completely or even explosion from college. Plagiarism simply isn’t worth the risk. On the other hand, plagiarism is just extremely unfair to the persons whose work you are taking as “your own.” They thought and created their work themselves and put in effort and it is not right to just take that from them. I believe that you should always put in the work yourself, no matter what the circumstances.
