In my previous class, ENC1101, I already read this. It was the first thing my professor made us read and to be completely honest, it was one of the only things I got out of that class. I couldn’t agree more with Lamott. I think that the reason I resonate with what she said is that I have always struggled with starting a writing assignment and getting all my thoughts out. Reading her thoughts on it made me realize that it is okay to have a bad first draft, in fact it can actually be better and more beneficial to have a bad first draft. Getting everything out of your brain and on to paper will make it easier to see where you want to go and it will eliminate the desire for everything to sound good and be perfect on the first try. Ultimately it is a time saver and a good way to organize your thoughts and ideas.
